Preventing damage to tree roots

Guide
1

Tree roots can become damaged due to ground compaction, specifically in heavilly trafficked areas such as car parks and driveways.

Terram GravelSure installed either as part of an overall scheme design or as a 'non-dig' post installation solution, can prevent root damage by distribution of applied loads therefore reducing soil compaction in the root growth area.

Guide
2

Firstly, prepare the ground in the area of anticipated root growth by remove any stones and weeds, in some circumstances a weed killer may be needed. Smooth over and level the intended working area.

Prior to installing Terram GravelSure, it is possible to first cover the area with Terram GroundSure. This will prevent the growth of weeds and aid ground stabilisation.

To install Terram GravelSure secure one side with the pins. Spread out the Terram GravelSure ensuring all the individual cells are open and uniform in their shape. Pin around the edge to retain the shape.

Fill each cell to the top. The type of infill used will depend upon the intended use of the area.

For pedestrian or occasional light vehicle traffic, soil (which can then be turfed or seeded) or regular shaped aggregate can be used.

For more regular vehicular traffic, crushed or angular aggregate, permeable concrete block paving or porous asphalt can be used to provide a permeable paving solution.
